Interviewer said "I shall either ask you ten easy questions or one really difficult question. Think well before you make up your mind!" The boy thought for a while and said, "my choice is one really difficult question." "Well, good luck to you, you have made your own choice! Now tell me this.
"What comes first, Day or Night?"
The boy was jolted into reality as his admission depends on the correctness of his answer, but he thought for a while and said, "It's the DAY sir!"
"How" the interviewer asked.
"Sorry sir, you promised me that you will not ask me a SECOND difficult question!"
He was selected for IIM!

Technical Skill is the mastery of complexity, while Creativity is the master of presence of mind.
This is a famous paper written for an Oxford philosophy exam, normally requiring an eight page essay answer and expected to be backed up with source material, quotes and analytical reasoning. This guy wrote the below answer and topped the exam!

OXFORD EXAMINATION BOARD 1987, ESSAY QUESTION

LIBERTY ROBBED

A POEM DEDICATED TO THOSE SOULS CHAINED BY THE SOCIAL EVIL OF CHILD LABOUR....

Regeneratio cardiac musculus?

The above caption is Latin for regeneration of cardiac muscle. This post provides the Stockholm Karolinska Institute study which provides evidence for renewal of cardiac muscles in homo sapiens

Cardiac muscle
Until recently it was believed that the cardiac muscles of the heart can-not be regenerated... this concept is wrong.
A Recent Study, published in the the April 3, 2009 issue of Science contradicts this belief.
A group of scientists at the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm, led by Olaf Bergmann and his colleagues (Bergmann O, Bhardwaj RD, Bernard S, Zdunek S, Barnabé-Heider F, Walsh S, Zupicich J, Alkass K, Buchholz BA, Druid H, Jovinge S, Frisén J.) provides evidence for renewal of cardiac muscles in homo sapien.
The group tested samples of cardiac muscle from people born before 1955 when excessive nuclear testing had resulted in high level of Carbon-14 in the air.
Karolinska Institute of Stockholm
  • They found that samples from people born before 1955 did have elevated carbon 14 in their heart muscle cell DNA, indicating that the cells had divided after the person's birth.
  • By using DNA samples from many hearts, the researchers estimated that a 20-year-old renews about 1% of heart muscle cells per year!
  • About 45 percent of the heart muscle cells of a 50-year-old were generated after he or she was born.
Thus, a new era of revealations await us in the near future in the biological field too....
GEAR UP FOR THAT

Citations by Stephen Hawking - the jewel of science

“My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.”

“The universe does not behave according to our pre-conceived ideas. It continues to surprise us.”

“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.”

“It's the gravity that shapes the large scale structure of the universe, even though it is the weakest of four categories of forces”

“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don't throw it away.”

"Equations are just the boring part of mathematics. I attempt to see things in terms of geometry."

"Quiet people have the loudest minds"

"The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why there should be a universe for the model to describe. Why does the universe go to all the bother of existing?"

"We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special."

"Most sets of values would give rise to universes that, although they might be very beautiful, would contain no one able to wonder at that beauty."

This is true, believe it or not!

A psychology professor at the University of Miami knew his students expected a terrifyingly long final exam.
To play with their minds a little (what do you expect from a psychology professor?) he only put ONE question on the final exam.
He watched the reactions of the students as they all opened the exams and saw the one question.
Initially they all looked relieved, but as the difficulty of the question began to sink in, those relieved faces sagged to confusion and consternation.
All, that is, except for one student.

Phantom Cosmonauts

Was

Yuri Gagarin really the first person to venture into space?
The answer to both the questions is supposedly NO!
According to the Lost Cosmonauts or Phantom Cosmonauts Theory in USSR, many other Cosmonauts were sent to outer space prior to Gagarin, but they did not survive!
The USSR did not wish to gain bad publicity at the height of the Cold War, so they concealed the entire fact!
Some of these facts leaked out when an alleged high-ranking Czech Communist leaked information about many purported unofficial space shots. Some of the lost cosmonauts are Alexshi Ledosvsky, Andreiw Mitcov, Sergei Shiborin and Marya Gromava.

In 1959, three years before Gagarin, another USSR cosmonaut, Vladimir Ilyushin had gone, and survived space travel, but he landed off-course and was detained by Chinese Government. So as not to be questioned, USSR covered up the story!

A recording from radio tape, made by the Italian Judica-Cordiglia brothers purports to be the sounds of labored breathing and a failing heartbeat. This combined with reports in the French and Italian press, claiming that Sputnik 7 was a manned mission, gave rise to claims that a cosmonaut named Gennady Mikhailov was the first man in orbit and died there due to heart failure. According to the TASS news agency it was a failed Venus probe. Opponents of this theory claim these recordings are of highly doubtful veracity, as data on heart rate and breathing patterns were not transmitted via audio on Vostok spacecraft, but via telemetric data. However, breathing into a mic and an audible heartbeat monitor was clearly heard in the recording!

-Apocalypse-

What is the most common thing that comes to your mind when someone mentions 2012?
End of the world?
End of life?
End of ...?
But surprisingly Apocalypse does not mean that!

The word apocalypse is taken from Greek word, ἀποκάλυψι (apocálypsis) and literally means un-covering. It is the revealation of something hidden.
In almost all spiritual scriptures such as the Vedas, the Koran, the Bible, the Torah, etc. the current age of man-kind is classified as the cursed age and speaks of a new age after this, i.e., the annihilation of the earth as we know it ... and the beginning of a new era.......

Another surprising fact is that the date predicted for Apocalypse, 21 December 2012 also marks the end of the non-repeating 5,125 year long Mesoamerican Long Count Calender! This Calender was made by the ancient Mayas.
"We have no record or knowledge that [the Maya] would think the world would come to an end"
Susan Milbrath,
curator of Latin American Art and Archaeology
Florida Museum of Natural History
"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle,"
Sandra Noble
 executive director
Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies
Crystal River
Florida
"There will be another cycle; We know the Maya thought there was one before this, and that implies they were comfortable with the idea of another one after this."
E. Wyllys Andrews V
 director
Tulane University Middle American Research Institute (MARI).

Farashokereti is the Zorastion version of the Apocalypse. According to Wikipedia:
In Zoroastrian eschatology, the world to come is the frashokereti, where the saoshyant will bring about a resurrection of the dead in the bodies they had before they died. This is followed by a last judgment. The yazatas Airyaman and Atar will melt the metal in the hills and mountains, and the molten metal will then flow across the earth like a river. All mankind  – both the living and the resurrected dead – will be required to wade through that river, but for the righteous (ashavan) it will seem to be a river of warm milk, while the wicked will be burned. The river will then flow down to hell, where it will annihilate Angra Mainyu and the last vestiges of wickedness in the universe.
Glossary: Farashokereti : doctrine of a final renovation of the universe, when evil will be destroyed, and everything else will be then in perfect unity with God
saoshyant : one who brings benefit
yazatas: worthy of worship
 Airyaman: divinity
Atar: burning and unburning fire; holy fire
ashavan: possessing truth
 Angra Mainyu: destructive spirit

The Hindu Vedas and the Bhagwad Gita speak of the coming of God Vishnu's final incarnation, Kalki  which will rid the world of evil and will start the beginning of a knew age, the Krita Yuga.
Glossary:                                                                                                       Vishnu: Hindu Savior God
Kalki: The One to Come
Krita Yuga: The return of the Satya Yuga or the age of truth
